October 28, 2007 was a very special day . . .

For Sammy's birthday, we made a choo-choo train cake . . .

Sammy got the engine . . .

A lot of family came to help us celebrate Sammy's one year mark in this world . . . thanks for showing your love!

Body World's

We went to an exhibit in Atlanta years ago, I didn't think I'd go again, but I received a free admissions ticket for being a healthcare professional so I took Sam today. I enjoyed going more this time, I'm not sure why . . . maybe it's because I learned that Von Hagen came up with the idea and developed plastination at the University of Heidelberg, Germany (where I lived for 6 years)!!! Of the three places I lived, Heidelberg was by far my favorite! Anyways, goodness knows it's impossible to hear about the Body World's exhibit and not feel a little . . . something. I know when I was in school, working with cadavers, I would get physically ill (probably had something to do with the smell of formaldehyde, too). Anyways, the exhibit is so respectfully done and you walk away awestruck at this temple God created and with greater zeal to care for it. There is not an ounce of disrespect and you can hear it in the way people talk. "Getting accustomed to it" is probably the only thing Sammy is learning at this point by our educational outings . . . which is too bad, because when we went to the Impressionism art show at the University a couple weeks ago, they had a great children's audio tour . . . I digress . . . my point is if you get the chance, grab the kids and go see Body World's in Salt Lake, I highly recommend it.

I went into work a little later today because I just couldn't leave without capturing this peek into the world of a mother and child.

By the way, Sammy had his four month checkup on Monday and he now tips the scales at 18 lbs 12 oz and measures 27" long. That little bout with RSV hasn't slowed him down at all.

I got some free tickets from work to the Jazz game on Monday night and I took the family out on the town. As new parents, this felt risky, but Sammy was a trooper.

He really enjoyed all the lights and colors. He just chilled out all night and didn't cry more than he would at home.

And by the end of the night, he was still a happy boy. I got to try out our new baby carrier on our way to and from the game on Trax.
